Mycelium

Mycelium

Mycelium is an eco-friendly and innovative material, it's proof that Nature is the best designer. When using mycelium technology we can create a range of products made from naturally cultivated materials that represent an unique alternative to materials traditionally produced from fossil fuel derivatives. The production process starts from low-value materials, which cannot find any other valuable application in the industry. By feeding on the organic matter, the mycelium converts the low-value input matter into a product with high added value, characterised by unique aesthetics.

MOGU

Growing Mycelium

Mogu produces its products by growing selected strains of mycelium on pre-engineered substrates made of agro-industrial residues.
By tuning the matrix configuration, they harvest different materials within short timeframes and with limited use of resources.
Fungal mycelium acts as a reinforcement to the matrix structure, creating 100% plastic-free and coherent material composite. At the end of the production process, mycelium materials are inertized by slow drying, for reduced energy consumption. The resulting products are completely stable, safe, durable and biodegradable.

Safe And Sound

Circular Process

The mycelium converts the low-value input matters into products with high added value, advanced technical features and unique aesthetics.

Bio-based

The material is produced by growing selected strains of mycelium on pre-engineered substrates made of agro-industrial residues.

Biodegradable

Mycelium materials will biodegrade only if the correct industrial conditions are provided, once disposed at the end of their life cycle.

Safe

Mycelium products employs non-GMO, non-allergenic fungal strains, which do not release any spores throughout the whole production process.

Acoustic Mycelium Panels

These Acoustic modular panels mark an unprecedented revolution for interior design. Made from soft, foam-like mycelium materials and of upcycled textile residues, they represent today the most sustainable solution dedicated to acoustic comfort. The panels embody functionality and a natural aesthetic while providing great sounds absorption performances. Testing has shown them to be hypoallergenic, free of VOC Emission, and have a remarkable fire rating making them a safer option than many other conventional design materials.

Mycelium Flooring

From agro-industrial residues to luxury living environments, Mogu Floor is a collection of bio-based resilient tiles for interior design and architecture. These designed modular floor tiles consist of a mycelium composite core, coated with a proprietary formulation of 90% bio-based resins.
Mogu Floor products replace traditional industrial pigments with low-value biomasses, such as corn crops, rice straw, spent coffee grounds, discarded seaweed and clamshells. The six colours currently available are provided by the specific biomasses used and are UV resistant.

Furniture & Objects

Mycelium can be grown to produce furniture and objects instead of manufacturing them. The moulds giving shape to the items are filled with agricultural waste, water and mycelium. The mix will be stored, waiting for the structure to grow and gain its strength.
Once fully grown and dried, the mix turns into a piece of furniture or product. At the end of its useful life as a product, this can be used as fertilizer.
Mycelium allows you to work together with nature, to create sustainable interior design and decorative products, all biodegradable and produced with a negative CO2 footprint.
